1st Fall Cold Front To Cool Down FL: Forecasters | Tampa, FL Patch

Oct 17, 2024

FLORIDA — Florida residents should get ready for a taste of the fall as temperatures are expected to drop overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning, bringing down humidity levels, forecasters said.

“Most of us will be seeing our first morning below 60 (degrees) since late April,” the National Weather Service’s Tampa Bay office posted to X, formerly Twitter.

Denis Phillips, chief meteorologist for ABC Action News, wrote in a Wednesday morning Facebook post, “The first strong cold front of the fall season arrives today. Look for highs only in the 70s today with gusty north winds. (Temps will actually FALL through the afternoon.)”

The mid-week highs will top out in the low 70s to the north and low 80s to the south, the NWS said. Meanwhile, Wednesday and Thursday overnight temperatures will dip into the 50s and 60s.

Those in Levy County could wake up to temperatures as low as 49 degrees on Thursday, according to NWS forecasters.

Those even further north could see temperatures drop even lower in the 40s, Matt Devitt with WINK Weather wrote in a Facebook post.

Tampa could see a low of 55 and the Sarasota/Bradenton area could experience temperatures that drop as low as 58 degrees.

By Friday, the lows will creep back up into the mid-60s with highs in the 80s in many places, forecasters said.
